The most magical events of York Fashion Week were those that involved local York businesses. Some events included attending runway shows, shopping, meeting wedding supplies, and enjoying all the local businesses that hosted the events. I was able to explore some of these amazing locations, such as Grey's Court and The Principal Hotel.
One very special business was Copper & White. The moment I put on clothes from Copper & White, I was immediately smiling. I felt both stylish and comfortable.

As a Masters student, what immediately spoke to me was the idea of ‘relaxed glamour.’ When in two hours seminars or while frantically writing in a local cafe, I want to think about my seminar and not my outfit. There’s nothing worse than fiddling with the hem of your skirt or the waistband of your favorite high-waisted jeans while trying to learn Latin.
Comfort is key to succeeding because uncomfortable and ill-fitting clothing can be distracting. While we all have those pairs of shoes that hurt more than we’d like to admit, painful fashion is not for every day. To combat uncomfortable and boring fashion, Clare Morris has curated a collection from designers all over the world to bring her customers clothes of amazing quality and comfort.
With a neutral color palette, there is an item of clothing perfect for every woman’s closet. But each piece of clothing and accessory has personality. These aren’t basics that you can easily get in high street stores. Rather, the collection is elevated basics and closet staples for the modern woman. The importance is in the detail of each piece.
Alongside a runway show earlier in the week, I encountered Copper & White in the stalls of the Shambles Market. As I perused the rack, I found luxurious colors and textures. With the style of clothing and the set up at the Shambles Market, I felt like I was shopping at a boutique.

Meeting and working with Clare was wonderful! She was very attentive and helped me construct a beautiful outfit while also pushing me to try new things.
After choosing a muted color for my outfit, I chose accessories that really made my personality shine. I usually opt for smaller and more delicate looking jewelry, but the Doll Necklace was lovely. There is so much detail and it is a gorgeous piece.
I absolutely fell in love with this scarf. The color felt a bit bright at first, but it felt just right when I put it on. Now different shades of yellow have become my favorite pop of color for the spring season!
